Listing Terms for Captains
The terms for claiming, creating and managing a charter listing on FishTripFinder.
These terms apply when you claim, create or manage a charter listing on FishTripFinder. They’re in addition to our Terms of Use. Listing on FishTripFinder is free.
Who can list
You may claim or create a listing only for a fishing charter business you own, operate or are authorised to manage. You confirm that the business holds the licences, permits and insurance its trips legally require (for example a USCG captain’s licence where needed) and that you will keep them valid.
Claiming an existing listing
Many listings start from public business information. To claim one, you verify that you run the business — through an email address on the business’s domain, a code sent to the business email, a code placed on the business website, or proof documents you upload. We may ask for more information and may refuse or reverse a claim if we can’t verify it or if it turns out to be wrong. Uploaded proof is used only for the check and is deleted once we decide (see our Privacy Policy).
What you’re responsible for
- Accuracy — trips, prices, what’s included, boat details, departure location, photos and booking links must be accurate and kept up to date. Show real prices, including any required fees you know about.
- Your content — you need the rights to every photo and text you upload. Don’t use other businesses’ photos or reviews.
- Your trips — bookings, payments, cancellations, refunds, safety and customer service are between you and your customers. FishTripFinder is not your agent and doesn’t take bookings or payments.
- The law — follow fishing regulations, maritime rules, consumer and advertising law where you operate.
Phone number and contact details
Your phone number is only shown on your listing if you choose to show it in your listing settings. Booking and website links go to the addresses you provide. We count clicks on your links and show you the totals.
Reviews of your business
Anglers can review your business. You can reply publicly to reviews, and report a review that breaks our Review Guidelines. You must not review your own business, ask friends or staff to, offer anything in exchange for reviews (or for changing or removing one), or pressure customers. We may remove reviews that break the guidelines, but we won’t remove a genuine review just because it’s negative.
Website badge
Claimed listings can display our “Find us on FishTripFinder” badge on their own website, using the code from your account. Use it as provided, only while your listing is active, and don’t change it to suggest that FishTripFinder endorses, certifies or recommends your business.
Licence to your listing content
You keep ownership of your content. You give us the licence described in our Terms of Use to show your listing, photos and details on FishTripFinder and to promote it (for example on social media, in search results, or in our guides).
Moderation and removal
New listings may be checked before they’re published. We may edit formatting, hide or remove listings, or close accounts that are inaccurate, misleading, duplicated, inactive, unsafe or that break these terms. If a listing is for your business and you want it removed, email [email protected] from the business email or after claiming it, and we’ll remove it.
Changes
We may update these terms and will tell captains by email about significant changes. Listings are currently ranked by ratings and number of reviews, whether the captain manages the listing, and how complete it is (trips, prices, photos); “near me” searches sort by distance, and our team may feature some charters. We may change how listings are ranked and displayed. Rankings are not for sale; paid placement, if we ever offer it, will be clearly labelled.
