Terms of Use

The rules for using FishTripFinder — for anglers, captains and everyone browsing.

Last updated

These terms apply to everyone who uses fishtripfinder.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you list a charter, our Listing Terms for Captains apply as well; reviews follow our Review Guidelines. How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Who we are

FishTripFinder is operated by FishTripFinder (“FishTripFinder”, “we”, “us”). Contact: [email protected].

What FishTripFinder is

FishTripFinder is a free directory that helps you find and compare fishing charters across the United States. We show listings, prices, reviews and links, and you book directly with the captain or on a booking platform.

We are not a charter operator, booking agent or travel seller. We don’t run trips, take payments or make reservations, and we are not a party to any booking or agreement between you and a captain or platform. The captain (or platform) is responsible for the trip, its price, cancellation and refund policies, safety, licences, permits and insurance.

Listing information

Listings come from captains themselves and from public sources (such as Overture Maps Foundation, OpenStreetMap and businesses’ own websites). We work to keep them accurate, but prices, availability, trip details, photos and contact details can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Always confirm the details — including price, what’s included, the boat, licences and cancellation terms — with the captain or platform before you book. Listings marked as unclaimed have not been checked by the business.

Some links to booking platforms may be affiliate links: if you book through one, the platform may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes the price you pay. Links take you to third-party websites that we don’t control, and their own terms and privacy policies apply there. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Fishing is an outdoor activity with real risks

Fishing trips involve boats, weather, water, hooks and fish. You choose a charter and take part at your own risk, and you’re responsible for following the captain’s instructions, local fishing regulations, licence requirements and catch limits. Information on FishTripFinder (including our guides) is general information, not professional, safety or legal advice.

Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 to create an account.
  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date. One person, one account.
  • Keep your password safe — you’re responsible for activity on your account.
  • Captain accounts are for people who operate or manage a charter business.

You can close your account at any time by emailing [email protected].

Your content

You keep ownership of the reviews, photos, text and other content you post. By posting it, you give FishTripFinder a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, adapt (for example resize or crop), translate and distribute it on FishTripFinder and in promoting FishTripFinder (for example sharing a listing or review on social media), for as long as it’s on the site and a reasonable time afterwards to remove copies. You confirm you have the right to post it and that it doesn’t break these terms or anyone else’s rights.

We may edit content for formatting, decline it, or remove it — for example if it breaks our guidelines or the law.

Things you must not do

  • Post fake, paid-for, or misleading reviews or listings, or review your own or a competitor’s business.
  • Impersonate anyone, or claim a business you don’t operate or manage.
  • Post content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else’s rights or privacy.
  • Scrape, copy or bulk-download listings or reviews, or use automated tools to access the site, except search engines following our robots.txt.
  • Interfere with the site’s security or operation, or try to access accounts or data that aren’t yours.
  • Use the site to send spam or unsolicited advertising.

We may suspend or close accounts and remove content that breaks these rules.

Our content and brand

The FishTripFinder name, logo, design, guides and the way we organise listing information belong to us or our licensors. You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial planning. Captains may use our website badge as described in the Listing Terms. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors; some business listings include data from Overture Maps Foundation.

If you believe content on FishTripFinder infringes your copyright or is otherwise unlawful, email [email protected] with: a description of the work or problem, the page address, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorised (for copyright, by the owner, its agent or the law) and that your notice is accurate. You can also report reviews with the “Report” link on each review.

Disclaimers

FishTripFinder is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises about the accuracy, completeness or availability of the site or listings, and we don’t endorse or guarantee any captain, boat, trip or platform. Ratings and reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, FishTripFinder will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from a trip, a booking, a captain or a third-party website. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the site is limited to USD 100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory local law.

Indemnity

If you break these terms or post content that infringes someone’s rights, you agree to cover reasonable losses and costs we incur as a result, to the extent the law allows.

Changes and ending

We may change the site or these terms. If we make significant changes we’ll update this page and, where appropriate, tell account holders by email; using the site after changes means you accept them. We may suspend or stop the service, or close an account that breaks these terms. You can stop using FishTripFinder at any time.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer, this doesn’t take away any right you have to bring a claim in your local courts or to rely on mandatory consumer protection law where you live.
